Prime Minister J.Erdenebat chaired a meeting of the National Committee to Reduce Air Pollution on August 1. In the meeting, the Prime Minister gave directions to boost the country’s energy budget and introduced a proposal to connect low emission stoves to the central grid.
“There is no summer for air pollution. We will not buy stoves with [state] budget money. It is pointless to combat air pollution with stoves that produce air pollution. Therefore, this year we will not be buying any stoves. Rather, we will increase the energy budget and connect low emission stoves to the central grid,” he said.
The subsidized electricity tariff for ger districts will continue, according to the Prime Minister. The appropriate authorities were delegated the task of preparing for the increased electricity usage in winter as ger district households change from stoves to electrical heaters.
