Top participant of the Season 2 of “Mongolia’s Got Talent”, multimedia dancer B.Shijirbat competed in the Season 12 of “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) and has been eliminated in the
Judge Cuts round.
B.Shijirbat’s audition in the first round consisted of a dramatic dance sequence with the graphic element on the screen behind.
Judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all voted “yes”, sending Shijirbat to the Judge Cuts.
B.Shijirbat’s performance for the Judge Cuts incorporated same elements to his first performance. Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell clicked their red buzzers during his performance. The judges said his performance was not strong enough to send him to the quarterfinals, ending the journey for the young dancer.
The following is a brief interview with B.Shijirbat about AGT.
How did you feel after passing the first round of AGT?
I was really happy that I represented Mongolia at AGT and advanced to the Judges Cut. I went to the USA two days prior to my performance. I met the show-organizing team of AGT, but they were very busy. They told me to stay in the audience seat. I saw seven or eight performances. All the performances were very cool and perfect. I felt very nervous and anxious.
The host of this year’s AGT is Tyra Banks of “America’s Next Top Model”. I didn’t know that. She came to me while I was preparing to go on stage. She asked about how I was feeling. That was very cool and exciting.
Your performance was named one of the top auditions of Got Talent worldwide.
I am very happy that Got Talent highlighted my performance. I have never imagined of participating in any kind of competition. I never thought the public would react this way to my performance. I participated in “Mongolia’s Got Talent” to pay tribute to my friend who passed away. That was the beginning of everything.
When did you decide to compete in AGT?
After competing in “Mongolia’s Got Talent”, a number of countries asked me to take part in their Got Talent. Among there were “America’ Got Talent”, “Britain’s Got Talent”, “Asia’s Got Talent”, “France’s Got Talent”, and “Germany’s Got Talent”. I discussed this with Mongol TV, which brought Got Talent to Mongolia, and chose “America’s Got Talent”.
How long did you prepare for AGT? Were there any difficulties to overcome?
I started preparing intensively when I decided to participate in AGT. The hardest part of the performance was choosing the right song. Before taking part in the first round of AGT, I sent two videos of my performance to the organizing team. The team said they couldn’t take a copyright of songs I used for my performances. I had to change the song. Changing the song meant changing everything. I chose NERVO and Askery’s “Alone” and the team approved.
After choosing a song, I had only one month to prepare my performance. I worked very hard and made that happen.
How did people react when they heard you were from Mongolia? Were there any other Mongolian participants besides you?
Four Mongolians who live in the USA participated in the Season 12 of AGT aside from me. Judge Heidi Klum was very curious about my nationality when I said I was from Mongolia. She mentioned that she once visited the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar.
