On Monday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Commission for the Presidential Election held a press conference to report on voter turnout for overseas voting, which was held on June 10-11.
Vice Chair of the Central Commission for the Presidential Election D.Bayanduuren underlined that 7,209 Mongolian nationals registered for overseas voting, and that 4,816 people have voted under the supervision of 45 committees in 33 countries.
Voter turnout was 66.8 percent. Nineteen election observers from the Mongolian People’s Party and Democratic Party worked within 11 different committees, including committees based in Seoul, Beijing, and Washington, D.C.
D.Bayanduuren emphasized that overseas voting ballots will be counted on June 26. It was noted that information being spread on social media about the results of overseas voting is not true, because the results are yet unknown according to ballot counting procedure outlined in the Election Law.
