Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with Oleg Budargin, director general of the Russian power company Rosseti, on Wednesday at the State House, to discuss developing renewable energy cooperation between the two countries.
During their meeting, Budargin emphasized that Rosseti is interested in cooperating to create a renewable energy network in Mongolia. The two countries have agreed to set up task forces to research establishing a renewable energy power line connecting Mongolia and Russia with the capacity to transmit 500 kW of electricty. The sides hope to also carry out a network extension with the capacity to transmit 220 kW.
Prime Minister J.Erdenebat pointed out that Mongolia will have the opportunity to update its communications network by taking advantage of a new network built with fiber optic cables.
The sides noted that the two countries have the opportunity to connect Asia and Europe by establishing a consolidated energy network, especially at a time when many countries throughout the world are discarding nuclear energy and while the United Nations is dedicated to increasing the use of renewable energy.
The PM underlined that Mongolia has negotiated with Russia and China to establish a railway corridor, and that there is also the possibility of the three countries creating a renewable energy corridor.
