Artist G.Boldbayar is showcasing his sixth solo exhibition, “New Ice Technology”, at Bum Art Gallery at UB Inn Hotel through April 13. The exhibition features over 20 artworks.
G.Boldbayar created a new way to paint and has been using his new method for over a year. He paints in places with a temperature of at least -8 to -5 degrees Celsius.
He said that his temperature regulation methodology allows the paint to freeze naturally and guide his artwork.
The artist said that before painting with this method, the most important thing is to prepare everything in advance. Before freezing your artwork, you need to paint quickly and creatively to reflect your thoughts and ideas in your artwork. He believes that artwork using his “ice” technique is created by the artist and the forces of nature.
G.Boldbayar graduated from the National Academy of Arts (NAA) in Bulgaria in 1988, and earned a master’s degree from NAA in 2008. He held his first solo exhibition at Vitosha Exhibition Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1994. He held his second solo exhibition, “Thank You, Academy”, at the Embassy of Mongolia in Bulgaria in 2008; his third solo exhibition, “Motherland”, at Mongolian National Gallery in 2012; his fourth solo exhibition was at Blue Moon Art Gallery in 2014; and his fifth solo exhibition, “Toonot Nutag”, was held in Ulan-Ude, Russia.
The artist participated in the group exhibition “Grassland” at TaiMiau Gallery in Beijing, China, in 2015; an exhibition of work by Korean and Mongolian artists in Daejeon, South Korea, in 2016; and a graphic art exhibition in Vientiane, Laos, in 2017.
He received Bulgaria’s Madarski Konnik art medal in 2006, and received a certificate of honor for his work from the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2011.
