Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and Pacific at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Haoliang Xu is paying a visit to Mongolia in order to meet with state authorities in charge of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework’s (UNDAF) 2017-2021 development plan for Mongolia, and to discuss further cooperation between the two parties.
Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with Xu on January 22 to talk about cooperation between the two parties.
During their meeting, the PM emphasized that developing renewable energy, enhancing the legal and regulatory environment for disaster risk prevention, developing the economy in a wide range of sectors, and strengthening principles in pursuit of adherence to the law are all required in Mongolia.
The Prime Minister thanked United Nations Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the UNDP Beate Trankmann for chairing an international team that is helping to support Mongolia in dealing with the winter challenges facing Mongolian herders this year.
The UN delegation pointed out that cooperation between Mongolia and the UNDP has dramat
ically increased over the past decade.
