The President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, welcomed Li Keqiang, the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, on Thursday.
Premier Li said that he was visiting Mongolia for the first time since he was appointed Premier in 2013, and congratulated Mongolia for hosting the 11th ASEM Summit. He conveyed the greetings of the President of China, Xi Jinping, to the President of Mongolia.
President Ts.Elbegdorj expressed his appreciation and noted, “The bilateral relations between Mongolia and China have reached their highest volume. Despite the world’s circumstances changing, the relations between our two neighbors will be consistent.”
In response, Premier Li said, “I have just held a meeting with the Speaker of Mongolia’s Parliament. Also, I met with the new Prime Minister of Mongolia and he noted that the new Government of Mongolia will maintain the foreign policy directions of the previous governments. I believe that the current ASEM Summit will be a historic event for Mongolia and will help increase its reputation in the international arena.”
“During this visit, we will pay attention to implementing projects discussed by the presidents of Mongolia and China,” mentioning that before leaving for Mongolia, he had meetings with the leaders of the European Union.
This is the first official visit by a Chinese premier to Mongolia in six years.
