On July 14, President Ts. Elbegdorj welcomed Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore.
President Ts.Elbegdorj said that he appreciated the visit by Prime Minister Lee and expressed a warm welcome.
Prime Minister Lee expressed appreciation for Mongolia’s hosting of the 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar, and noted satisfaction with the development of mutual relations and cooperation.
The President discussed cooperation with Singapore on Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security and exchanged views on providing mutual support in the international arena.
President Ts.Elbegdorj noted, “Mongolia is hosting the 11th ASEM Summit and also marking the 20th anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting. Some 800 years ago, heads of state and high-level dignitaries from Asian and European countries gathered in Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia, through the Silk Road and horse stations. We are truly glad that 800 years later, representatives from these two continents have once again gathered in Mongolia.”
The visit of Prime Minister Lee is the first visit by a head of the Singaporean government to Mongolia.
