The “Space Day” exhibition was presented at Buyant Ukhaa Sports Complex on March 20, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the first Mongolian being launched into space on March 22, 1981.

“Space Day” includes the free screening of scientific films and exhibits about astronomy. Dudu Education Fund organized its first-ever Paper Plane National Championship for the opening of the exhibition. The organizers said that the paper plane program aims to contribute to children’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, and that they hope to prepare professional competitors for world championships in the future.
Astronaut J.Gurragchaa became the first Mongolian man in space on March 22, 1981. He orbited Earth 124 times in eight days with Russian astronaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov in the Soyuz 39 spacecraft. Mongolia was the fifth country in the world to send its own technology to space for study, and the 10th country to send its own astronaut.
